Did the money you spent this week align with your goals? Do you feel happy? Guilty? Not ready to face it, so you are going to stop reading this?

Be brave! Put your big girl shoes on and let’s do this exercise.

Fill in the blanks below:

  • Money I loved spending this week: _____________

  • Money I hated spending this week: _____________

  • Money I was surprised to spend this week! _____________

  • Money I knew I’d spend this week and am okay with: _____________

  • Money I spent towards my goals/dreams: _____________

Here’s mine:

Money I loved spending this week: I spent $350 for my husband to fly to Ohio to drive back down our daughter. She is moving back home, temporarily.

Money I hated spending this week: $150 of that plane ticket, because the price doubled within 24 hours as we waited to see if my husband get get off work early.

Money I was surprised to spend this week! $177 I’ve totally blown my “no eating out” challenge in Jan. OK, maybe more guilt than surprise.

Money I knew I’d spend this week and am okay with: $20 for Leila Ansart’s goal setting workshop. I’ve already implemented several micro-steps that are leading me on the trail to reaching my goals.

Money I spent towards my goals/dreams: $280 at the grocery store to buy fresh and organic food/ingredients for my weekly menu. It was soo hard. I usually compromise on some things when it comes to organic vs non-organic; but not this week. This money will also help me with my eating out budget, as well as my health goals.

What I learned: my grocery budget was higher than it normally is; but I am buying for 3 now instead of 2. Also, since I will be cooking more and canceling my meal prep boxes, there were some other staple items I needed. Going forward, I need to adjust my food budget line.

Now your turn!

Fill in the blanks and take a moment to see how you feel about it. What did you learn? What should you celebrate and what do you need to adjust?
