Meet Our November Trail Blazer : Dr. Kim Bynum

Dr. Kim Bynum is a five foot tall bundle of positive energy and enthusiasm who was given the appropriate call sign of "TASMANIAN DEVIL" during one of her numerous U.S. Navy military assignments.

Kim is a firm believer in breaking the Golden Rule and ignoring other social “niceties” to liberate individuals and organizations from fear and mediocrity.

She is a professor of leadership, management and economics, currently teaching at DeVry University, Christian Brothers University and Harvest Community School.

Previously, she served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, including several at-sea tours on warships. She is the proud mother of both a special needs son, Raleigh, and an up-and-coming Level 9 gymnast, Tess, and is married to a U.S. Marine, JT Bynum.

Q. Tell us something that would surprise us most to learn about you:

A. In high school, I was afraid to ask the McDonald's server for extra ketchup for my fries.

Q. Why are you passionate about your work?

A. I'm passionate about my work because it's what I've been put on this earth to do; to contribute.

Q. What’s the greatest lesson you’ve learned in business you would like to share with other women?

A. To let go of outcomes and focus only on input (my input). Outcomes take are of themselves, and I can't control them anyway. It's freeing, powerful (and it works!)
